Obituary of Thomas Marnell Hitchcock

     Thomas Marnell Hitchcock, 79, of Sheffield died Wednesday January 26 at BMC in Pittsfield and is back with his beloved wife, Vicky, and His dog Peaches. Tom was born at his parents home in Sheffield on October 16, 1942. Son of Francis and Ethel (Markham) Hitchcock. Tom was a graduate of Mount Everett Regional High School and was a talented basketball and baseball player. Tom proudly served his country in the U.S. Coastguard and later worked at Custom Excrusions in Sheffield where he was a supervisor. Tom was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed salmon and steelhead fishing with his friends at Lake Champlain and Lake Pulaski. Tom was a loving and caring man, a devout husband and an excellent stepfather and teacher to his stepdaughter, Robin B Braskie. He was an animal lover his whole life and enjoyed watching baseball and football with his best friend, Bob Gay. Tom’s wife, Victoria (Vicky Sanzo) Hitchcock, predeceased him on April 4, 2005.

     Tom is survived by his stepdaughter, Robin B Braskie, her fiancé, Matt Thompson and his beloved granddaughter, Morgan Neales whom all resided with him. He also leaves his stepdaughter, Lea Persing and her two children, Bethany and Justin Persing. He also leaves close family members Dave and Kara Quinville, his nieces, Susan Crane and her husband Gary Crane as well as Lisa Hitchcock. In addition to his wife, Vicky Tom was predeceased by his brother, Francis Hitchcock Jr.

     A Celebration of Life for Thomas Marnell Hitchcock will be held on Monday February 7 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the BIRCHES ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South Street Great Barrington MA 01230. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Thomas’ memory may be made to the ASPCA in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be made through birchesroyfuneralservices.com.
