Thomas H. Mead, 74 ended his life journey on February 19, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Born in Great Barrington on April 10, 1943 to Andrew Mead and Nellie Johnson Mead. He was a graduate of Searles High School Class of 1961. He worked for 35 years at Becton Dickinson in Canaan, CT. Upon retirement from BD he worked for Ward’s Nursery for several years. This was a job he loved. Planting flowers and tending his gardens was his favorite pastime. Tom is survived by his wife of 49 years Carol Gurney, daughter Christine Kelly and husband Thomas, granddaughter Colleen Kelly Weller and her husband Braedan of Brighton, MA and grandson Kevin Kelly, one brother Robert Mead of Lee, MA his goddaughter Sarah Mead and several nieces and nephews. Tom was predeceased by his brothers Andrew and Rodney.

At Tom’s request there will be no calling hours. A private burial will be held at a later date. We wish to give a very special thanks to Tom’s caregiver Regina who became part of the family. Also Porchlight VNA &Home Care and Hospice Care in the Berkshires for the care and support. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care in the Berkshires, 877 South Street, Pittsfield, MA 01201. Services entrusted to Birches-Roy Funeral home.   1. My sincere sympathy goes out to Tom’s family . I worked with him at BD before my retirement I retired in 1999 . He was a wonderful person and always spoke well of his family and treated everyone with respect . Try and remember all the good times and good memories to get you through this time of sorrow .
