Obituary of Ryan Andrew Burt

Ryan Burt

Ryan Andrew Burt, 37, of West Stockbridge died Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at his home due to complications of his Type 1 Diabetes. Ryan was born on August 14, 1986 in Pittsfield, the Son of Lynn Ryan and the late Fred Burt. He was a graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School, attended Berkshire Community College for graphic design and ultimately received his degree at Hallmark Institute of Photography as one of the top ten in his class. His famous and the best of the best in the world  professors were photographers of “Life” magazine, “National Geographic”, and “Avant Garde.”One of them told him “You have a special gift and an amazing eye. Use it to change the world.” Growing up, his interest spanned from illustration, film, graphic design, music, and of course photography. His work came from a fascination with the world, the people in it, the landscapes that cover it, and being able to capture his very special moments with friends. He’s photographed countless weddings for friends, strangers (who became friends), and family. Every single couple were amazed with his “out of the box” images which always lead to more jobs. His best work were landscapes, still life’s, and portraits.

He was an avid skateboarder and roller blader in his early years and was an amazing finger board competitor. He called himself “ferocious fingers.”

He leaves behind the very best friends a guy could ever have. His love for them and brilliant sense of humor has left a legacy that no one will ever be able to replicate. He was “one of a kind.”

Ryan is survived by his mom, Lynn Ryan, his maternal grandfather, George A. Ryan and wife, Susan, his

two uncles, Gige Ryan (Alice) and Clint Burt (Peg). He also leaves his cousins, Erica (Jaime/Piper), Madison, Vinnie, and Jane. Other family members left behind are Tim and Todd Voorhis, Keith and Marie Rafferty, and the entire Kelly family.

Ryan was predeceased by his brother, Kellan Burt, his maternal grandmother, Maureen Lynn Ryan, his paternal grandparents, Bob and Lucille Burt and his father, Frederick Burt.

Ryan loved animals, especially Cats, so any donations in his name to a shelter of your choice would be his wish.

In lieu of services, a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Condolences may be made through
