Obituary of Roger E. Abbott

Roger E. Abbott, 66 of Ashely Falls died Wednesday April 21, 2021 at his home. Roger was born in Great Barrington on July 9, 1954 son of the late Edward J. and Blanche (Hall) Abbott. He was a graduate of Mt. Everett Regional High School class of 1972 where he played baseball for the Mt. Everett Eagles. Roger worked for Williams Paving in West Stockbridge for over 30 years as a truck driver, retiring in November of 2020. He was an avid Nascar fan and enjoyed bowling and fishing. Roger is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Mortensen) Abbott of Ashley Falls whom he married on October 23, 2004, three sons, E.J. Abbott III of Lee, Michael Abbott of Ohio and J.L. Mortensen of Pittsfield, one daughter, Katherine Mortensen and boyfriend Nick Carnevale of Pittsfield, one sister, Terri Dumont of Ashley Falls, nephew Ray Dumont and wife M.J. of Lee, two grandchildren, Giovanni Abbott and Gabriella Abbott, brother in law Jay Mortensen of Syracuse, NY and two sisters in law Christine Hayes (Gregory) of Goshen and Regina Davis of Lee, many extended family here in MA and in VT and his German Shepard and constant companion, Willow.

In keeping with Roger’s wishes all services are private. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Roger’s memory may be made to Berkshire Humane Society in care of the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South St. Great Barrington MA 01230.
