Rodney H. Christman, 79, of Sheffield, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at his home. Born in Great Barrington on November 20, 1944, he was the son of Harold and Evelyn (Kisselbrack) Christman. Rodney graduated from Mount Everett Regional High School and served with pride in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Vietnam War, followed by eight years as a reservist.

Rodney enjoyed a fulfilling career as a cost analyst with General Electric and General Dynamics, retiring in 2001. He and his beloved wife traveled extensively, spending half of each year in Florida. Rodney was an active member of the Elks Club in Port Charlotte, FL. He cherished time with his family, always eager to share his wisdom, offer ATV rides, and engage in DIY projects. Rodney took great pride in his collection of vintage vehicles.

Rodney leaves behind his wife of sixty years, Jeanne (Bachetti) Christman of Sheffield, his daughter Pam Christman (Tom Sawyer), his daughter Penny Christman (Randy Hunt), his three grandchildren, Cole Sawyer (Sadie Lowenthal), Brynne Sawyer (Erik Hallenbeck), and Cameron Collins (Hanna Smithson), one brother Gerald Christman, sister-in-law Sherri Bachetti, nephews Andy Bachetti (Natalie) and Greg Bachetti  (Wynter) and grand nephews and nieces, Blake, Delaina, Bryce and Kolton. Rodney was predeceased by one brother, Irving Christman and brother-in-law, Scott Bachetti.

In keeping with Rodney’s wishes all services are private. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Rodney’s memory may be made to the Sheffield Police Dept. or Sheffield Volunteer Hose Company in care of the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South St. Great Barrington MA 01230.
