Peter Harvey Montana, 65 of Great Barrington died Sunday November 14, 2021 at Craneville Place in Dalton. Peter was born in Great Barrington on June 1, 1956 son of Robert F. Montana and the late Lorraine Mae (Laprade) Montana. Peter was a graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School class of 1974. After High School Peter proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Peter worked for many years as a mechanic at Butternut and as a volunteer firefighter in Great Barrington. He was a member of the Housatonic American Legion and the Great Barrington Fish and Game where he was in charge of the range and ran turkey shoots. Peter was a communicant and former altar boy at Corpus Christi Church in Housatonic, loved military plane models and tanks and enjoyed hunting. Peter is survived by his father Robert F. Montana of Great Barrington, two sisters, Evelyn Wallace of Great Barrington and Clara Montana of Salem N.H., three nieces, Amy, Aurora and Natasha, three nephews, Christian, Matthew and Robbie and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his mother, Lorraine Montana, Peter was predeceased by sister Roberta Searing.

In keeping with Peter’s wishes all services are private. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Peter’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Peter’s Building Fund in care of the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South St. Great Barrington MA 01230.
