Peggy Ann Keefner 70, of North Adams formerly of Great Barrington died Sunday April 9, 2017 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield surrounded by her loving family. Peggy was born on December 15, 1946 in Pittsfield daughter to Frederick V. and Frances (Armstrong) Finkle. She was a graduate of the former Searles High School class of 1964 and a graduate of St. Luke’s School of Nursing. Peggy worked as a LPN at Fairview Hospital, Berkshire Meadows and local nursing homes. She was a former member of the 1st Congregational Church in Great Barrington and enjoyed bingo, going to tag sales, trips to Lake George, decorating for all holidays and a New York Mets fan. Peggy’s husband August “Joe” Keefner predeceased her on August 5, 1998. Peggy is survived by companion James Cables of North Adams, three sons, Joseph F. Keefner and wife Bridget of Housatonic, Robert F. Keefner and wife Kim of East Schodack N.Y. and Benjamin A. Keefner of Housatonic, one daughter, Shirley J. Lentz of East Schodack of N.Y., one brother, Frederick Finkle and wife Cathy of Sheffield, two sisters, Donna Touponce and husband Jim of Lee, Jennie Scapin of Lee, one sister-in-law, Sally Hunter of Lee, two grandchildren, Joseph D. Keefner and James A. Lentz, many nieces and nephews and two close friends Carol Scapin and Ellen Finkle. In addition to her husband August “Joe” Keefner Peggy was predeceased by two brothers, Grover F. Finkle Sr. and Charles Hunter and three sisters, Phyllis, Betty and Karin.
A graveside services for Peggy Ann Keefner will be held Wednesday April 12th at 11:30 AM at Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington with Reverend Charles Van Ausdall presiding. Family will receive friends on Wednesday April 12 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South Street Great Barrington MA 01230.
