Nicholas F. Wool, 93, of Monterey died Monday March 27, 2017 at Fairview Commons Nursing Home in Great Barrington. Nicholas was born on July 21, 1923 in Housatonic, son of Anthony T. and Ida Helen (Moccio) Wool. He was a graduate of the former Searles High School class of 1942. After high school Nicholas proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps in the European Theatre. After returning home from his service Nicholas was a partner with his father Anthony with Wool’s Taxi and Wool’s Garage. He also worked as an insurance agent for Prudential insurance for thirty three years. Nicholas was a member of the Knights of Columbus Mt. Everett Council #513 a past Grand Knight and District Deputy, Bishop Conaty 4th Degree, member of the James A. Modolo Post # 8183, life member of the American Legion #8348, Chairman of Monterey Finance Committee form 1982-1987 and a past member of the Lions Club. Nicholas is survived by his wife Elizabeth “Betty” (Corr) Wool of Monterey whom he married on November 1, 1975, three daughters, Janice Hayden of Tybee Island GA, Felicia Sprott of AZ and Maria Spear of N.Y., one step-daughter, Christine Guerrero of Great Barrington, two sisters, Margaret Pothul of Great Barrington and Carmella Delmolino of Sheffield, ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

Funeral Services for Nicholas F. Wool will be held on Monday April 3 at 11:30 AM at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South Street Great Barrington MA 01230 with Reverend William P. Murphy Pastor officiating. Family will receive friends on Monday April 3 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM preceding the service. Burial will follow with Military Honors in Corashire Cemetery in Monterey.   1. Sending love and sympathy to your family. Uncle Nick was one our our favorites. He was a dear, sweet man and I wish we could have spent more time with him. When we got married 37 years ago, he gave us great words of wisdom that we still talk about today. He will be dearly missed. He has received his highest promotion to heaven now. Well done thou good and faithful servant; enter into your rest.
