Mary L. King, 92, of Great Barrington died Thursday September 14, 2017 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. Mary was born in Lee on November 3, 1924 daughter of Morris and Louise (Pfordt) Landers. She was a graduate of Lee High School class of 1942 and then went on to receive her degree in Physical Education from Arnold College in New Haven CT in 1946.

Mary worked for the Barrington School for Girls from 1946 to 1948, was a school bus driver for Massini Bus Co. and a substitute teacher for Southern Berkshire Regional School District. Mary married her husband Philip T. King on June 20, 1949; he predeceased her on June 11, 1995. Mary had been a resident of Great Barrington since 1955.

Mary is survived by son, Philip T. King, wife Laurie of West Haven CT, four daughters, Patricia A. King and husband Robert Phipps of New Haven CT, Constance L. Jardine of Great Barrington, Anne M. Wehry and husband Henry Jr. of Lenox and Mary E. Chory and husband Paul of Pickerington OH, sister, Anne LeBlanc of FL, nine grandchildren, Emily Chory, Casey Chory, Jackson Chory, Justin Wehry, Daniel Wehry, Caitlin Wehry, Margaret Phipps, Bryan King and Carolyn King and three great grandchildren, Taylor Wehry, Colin Whery, and James King. In addition to her husband Philip T. King, Mary was predeceased by son in law, Andrew Jardine of Ludlow.

Mary was a communicant of Saint Peter’s Church, loved casino trips, and was a friend to everyone she met. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of her life.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mary L. King will be held Saturday September 16, at 10:00 AM, in St. Peter’s Church, Great Barrington, with the Reverend William P. Murphy, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Family will receive friends Saturday September 16 from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South Street Great Barrington, MA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy may be made to Friends of the Claire Teague Senior Center, Inc, or to the Mason Library both in care of the funeral home at 33 South Street, Great Barrington, MA. 01230.   1. Dear Connie and Family, So sorry to hear of the passing of Mary. We use to have many conversations in the sidewalk on School Street and her visits to Fairview. She also had interesting conversations to talk about. Peach be with you.
