Laura “Laurie” Beckwith, 63 of Great Barrington died Sunday October 13, 2024 at her daughter’s home surrounded by her loving family. Laurie was born on July 14, 1961, daughter of the late Ernest R. Sr. and Margaret (Finnegan) Beckwith. She was a graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School. Laurie worked at the former Brooks Insurance Company, at Domaney’s for many years, and as an insurance agent for forty four years at Wheeler and Taylor Inc. She was a proud participant of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life for over ten years. She was devoted to her family and was the best mother, sister, and aunt. Laurie is survived by her daughter Abigail “Abby” Rossi and significant other Ryan Carlson of Sheffield, her partner Willie Wilkinson, her two brothers, Ernest Beckwith Jr. and wife Linda of Mill River and Bruce Beckwith and wife Carey of Great Barrington, her sister Anne Ranolde and husband Dan of Great Barrington, her two sisters-in-law, Linda Beckwith of Mt. Washington and Kathy Whitbeck and husband Dave of Mt. Washington, her nieces and nephews, Amanda (Josh), Cody (Hayley), Jeremy, Camille, Henry, Sarah, Ernest III (Jodi), Brian (Amanda) and Amber (Matt), Stephen, Todd, and many great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Laurie was predeceased by her significant other Peter Rossi and her brother Jimmy Beckwith.

Funeral services for Laura “Laurie” Beckwith will be held on Thursday October 17 at 10:00 AM with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Saint Peter’s Church in Great Barrington with Reverend William P. Murphy Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday October 16 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South St. Great Barrington MA 01230. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Laurie’s memory may be made to either American Cancer Society or Relay for Life in care of the funeral home.     • I want to send my condolences to Laurie’s family and the wonderful people at Wheeler and Taylor who I know will miss her so much. She worked with my family for decades and we so looked forward to our visits to her office. She was a gem and I personally will miss her very much.

  4. Laurie was a beautiful kind soul, always working with a smile. She took care of my families insurance needs for the past 20 years. It was always nice to see her at Domaney’s and share laughs and stories about our families. She will be deeply missed. I’m sure Jimmy is there welcoming her with open arms.
