Obituary of Kathleen “Kathy” Whitbeck

Kathleen “Kathy” Whitbeck, 64 of Mount Washington, passed peacefully on Sunday March 2, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Kathy was born in Great Barrington on February 18, 1961 daughter of Donald “Pat” Rossi and Mary (Toomey) Rossi.  She was a graduate of Mt. Everett Regional High School class of 1979 where she graduated with high honors. After graduating, Kathy’s career began as innkeeper at The Williamsville Inn. Her career continued with a move to North Conway, New Hampshire where she successfully operated a historic inn with her husband David. Kathy and David eventually moved back to Great Barrington after 6 years in North Conway.  Kathy spent the next 35 years working as Vice President of operations for Pinnacle Hospitality Group. In 2007, Kathy and David moved to the home they built on Mount Washington. Kathy was a member of The Daughters of The American Revolution. She had a passion for the game of golf which included organizing an annual 4th of July golf tournament for family and friends. She also played in the Great Barrington VFW pitch league. Kathy was at her best when surrounded by family and friends.  Kathy could light up a room with her infectious smile and beautiful personality.  She was referred to as “favorite” aunt by her nieces and nephews. Kathy is survived by her husband David Whitbeck of Mount Washington whom she married on May 14. 1988.  Kathy is also survived by many loving family members and her two black labs Milo and Buster. In addition to her parents, Kathy was pre-deceased by her brother Donald “Peter” Rossi Jr.

Kathy’s family will receive friends on Friday March the 7th from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Birches Roy Funeral Home on 33 South St Great Barrington, MA 01230.  In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Kathy’s memory may be made to the South Egremont Fire Department in care of the funeral home.  Condolences may be made through birchesroyfuneralservices.com.
