Obituary of Jean Gertrude Davis

Jean Gertrude Davis, 91 of Stockbridge passed away peacefully on April 27, 2022 at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield. Jean was born in Richmond on June 23, 1930 daughter to Eugene A. and Nora J. (Blake) O’Brien. She was educated in Richmond and Housatonic Schools and attended the former Searles High School. Jean worked at Monument Mills, Great Barrington Manufacturing, a telephone operator with the local phone company, Country Curtains, Adams Supermarket and a cafeteria server with the Berkshire Hills School District for 17 years, retiring in 2000. Jean enjoyed the many travels with her husband and friends, spending many good times with family, going to her grandsons’ sports games, sharing and caring with her granddaughter and the joy of her great grandchildren. Jean’s husband Leroy E. Davis whom she married on August 20, 1949 predeceased her on July 11, 2008. Jean is survived by son Arthur Davis and wife Nancy of Housatonic, daughter Audrey Davis-Stok and husband Rufus of Monument Beach MA, sister, Edna Mead of Great Barrington, granddaughter, Michelle Richard and husband Steven of Bellingham, two grandsons, Brian Davis of Lenox and Aaron Davis and partner Alison of Ballston Spa NY, four great grandchildren, Steven Jr., Ryan, Austen and Julia and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her husband Leroy, Jean was predeceased by sisters, Eleanor Tarnawa, Bertha Moro, Edith Moro, Ruth Warfield and Nellie Thorpe and brothers, John O’Brien and William Winters.

A Graveside service for Jean Gertrude Davis will be held on Saturday April 30 at 1:00 PM in Elmwood Cemetery in Great Barrington with Belle Fox-Martin UCCLM officiating. Expressions of sympathy in Jean’s memory may be made to either VNA or Hospice Care in the Berkshires in care of the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South St. Great Barrington MA 01230.
