Obituary of Harry “Haywire” Hughes

Harry “Haywire” Hughes 71 of South Egremont died Monday September 9, 2019 at Fairview Commons Nursing Center with his loving family by his side. He was born in Great Barrington on June 18, 1948 son of Harold and Katina Dellea Hughes. He attended local schools. Harry was a Heavy Equipment Operator who most recently worked for Orvie Garrett, Mount Washington. He previously owned the Harry Hughes and Son Excavating Company, and he also worked for other area excavating companies. Harry enjoyed stock car racing and was also a driver. He also enjoyed all motor sports. Harry leaves his son Timothy and his wife Jill, of North Egremont, his half- brother, Louis Rossi, of Alford and one granddaughter Caitlin Hughes.

In keeping with Harry’s wishes there will be no funeral services. Expressions of sympathy in Harry’s memory may be made to the Egremont Volunteer Fire Department in care of the Birches-Roy Funeral Home 33 South Street Great Barrington, MA 01230 who was entrusted with Harry’s arrangements.   2. Timmy so sorry for your loss. I had many good times with you father at the race track and at his place in S Egermont . He will be missed one of a kind.
