Gloria Prelli

Gloria Prelli, 79, of Great Barrington died Tuesday August 24, 2021 at Kimball Farms Nursing Home in Lenox. Gloria was born on January 31, 1942 in Torrington CT, daughter of Angelo and Rena (Saporite) Lamas. She attended Torrington Schools and graduated from Wamogo Regional in Litchfield CT, class of 1959. Gloria worked for many years as an x-ray secretary at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and Winsted Memorial and as a medical transcriber in medical records at Fairview Hospital; retiring in 2004. Gloria moved to Great Barrington in 1978 and was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church. She was the President of the Junior Women’s Club of Winsted for two terms, a member of the Fairview Auxiliary and its recording secretary an Honorary Member of the Plainville CT Woman’s Club, enjoyed needlework, crossword puzzles, baking, travelling and vacations in St. Croix. Gloria is survived by her husband, Peter Prelli of Great Barrington whom she married on April 15, 1961 in Goshen CT, one daughter, Linda Prelli of Portland CT, two sons, Matthew Prelli of Torrington CT and Michael Prelli (Kim Raftery) of Becket, and one granddaughter, Amanda.

Funeral services for Gloria Prelli will be held on Saturday August 28 at 10:00 AM with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Peter’s Church in Great Barrington with Reverend William P. Murphy Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Winsted CT. Family will receive friends on Friday August 27 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South St. Great Barrington MA 01230. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Gloria’s memory may be made to Hospice care in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.   6. Gloria was a wonderful woman, kind hearted, always quick with a laugh and that side eye that she gave me right from the moment I met her so many years ago at Fairview when we both worked there. Then I moved to her street and Gloria and Peter “adopted” me- kept an eye on me and my home. She was one of a kind – and loved by all.
