George Fleck

George William Fleck, 94 of New Marlborough died Thursday October 10, 2024 at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington. George was born in Bronx N.Y. on March 6, 1930 son of George and Catherine Fleck. He graduated from Fairleigh Dickinson with a Bachelor’s Degree,  a Master’s Degree in Film from NYU with a Doctorate Degree in Education Degree from Fairleigh Dickinson.. George was drafted into the Army Security Agency spending a year in Korea. He hosted a cable show in NY, did corporate film and a film for the FASA and developed a new film program for Borough of Manhattan Community College where he taught and became the department chair. George also enjoyed singing and had a voice like Sinatra’s. George also hosted a radio show in Great Barrington featuring the “great American Songbook.” George is survived by his wife, Sharon (Besemer) Fleck whom he married in 1985 and moved to a log cabin they built in New Marlborough in 2011, his two children, Alison of NJ and Tracey of Plano TX and his two step children Karen and Ryan of NJ, his four grandchildren Shane and Conor of TX and Larissa and Nicholas of NY and NJ. George and Sharon had four golden retrievers, Tucker, Zach, Jack and currently Henry Otis.

Family will receive friends on Saturday October 19 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM remembrances will be shared at 1:30 PM at the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South St. Great Barrington MA 01230. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Hospice Care of Berkshire County, 877 South Street, Ste. 1W, Pittsfield, MA 01201.   1. I’m saddened at the loss of George. He was my fathers best friend and had many adventures together! I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers!
