Obituary of Frank W. Pothul

Frank W. Pothul, 91, of Housatonic died Wednesday October 31, 2018 at Fairview Commons Nursing and Rehab in Great Barrington. Frank was born at the family home on Oak St. in Housatonic on February 26, 1927, son of Frank and Frances (Siok) Pothul. He attended the Former Searles High School and schooling for dry cleaning in Maryland. Frank proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during WWII where he was stationed in Italy from 1945 to 1946 where he was in charge of German prisoners. After returning home Frank worked as a dry cleaner at Leonards for 11 years, then for the New Haven Railroad and worked for 34 years at Mead and Hulrburt Paper Mills. Frank enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a cottage for 37 years in Dummer N.H., a member of North American Power Engineers and the National Rifle Association.  Frank is survived by his wife Norma T. (Gaspardi) Pothul whom he married on November 27, 1948 at Saint Mary’s in Lee MA, daughter Carol Dermody and husband Don of Greenport N.Y., one sister, Helen Audino of Houatonic and one grandson, Austin. Frank was predeceased by three brothers, Marcel Pothul, Alex Pothul and Joseph Pothul and two sisters Alice Herlihy and Veronica James.

A Memorial Service for Frank W. Pothul will be held on Tuesday November 6th at 10:00 AM at Corpus Christi Church Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Parish with Reverend William P. Murphy Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Bridget’s Cemetery in Housatonic. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy in Frank’s memory may be made to the Corpus Christi Church Saint Teresa of Calcutta Building Fund in care of the BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME 33 South Street Great Barrington MA 01230.
