Obituary of Emma Lee Daigle

Emma Lee Daigle,72, of Great Barrington returned to the Lord on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at Fairview Commons in Great Barrington. Emma was born November 17, 1951, to Louis J. Daigle and Kathleen M. (Deschaine) Daigle. She was the eldest of nine children. She was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Joseph (Tommy) Daigle and Rene Daigle. She is survived by two brothers; Mark Daigle (Karen) of Cheshire, MA and Jeano Daigle (Colleen) of Becket, MA and four sisters; Carol Namiot (Andrew) of Otis, MA, Anita Daigle of Canaan, CT, Janet Kane (Gary Tenney) of Conway, SC, and Claudette Litchfield of Sandisfield, MA; eleven nieces and nephews, and sixteen great nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Monument Mountain Regional High School class of 1969. After graduating, Emma went on to study nursing. With her warm, open, generous, and loving heart she was a natural as a nanny and traveled to Cape Cod, Mexico, and Pennsylvania where she made life-long friendships. Returning home, Emma pursued her passion for music and with her strong faith was drawn to service with our church. Being a communicant of St. Peter’s Church, she developed long lasting spiritual relationships with her church community. She was a cantor and choir member for over forty years, a member of the Marian Father prayer group for over thirty years, assisted adult and youth choirs, assisted the summer bible program at Our Lady of the Valley, and worked at Timberlyn Heights for seventeen years in the dietary, housekeeping, laundry and central supply dept. After her parents moved into senior housing, Emma kept the family home, a place where everyone would gather. When she was no longer physically able, Emma moved into Fairview Commons where she graciously accepted and embraced this new stage in her life. She was loved by both residents and staff, and her family is forever grateful for the care she was given. Emma enjoyed playing guitar, crocheting, Sci-Fi movies, spending time with her family, and watching her nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who made her proud.

 

In keeping with Emma’s wishes there are no calling hours. A Funeral Mass for Emma Lee Daigle will be held on Monday November 18 at 10:00 AM with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at Saint Peter’s Church in Great Barrington with Reverend William P. Murphy Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in Saint Peter’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Birches-Roy Funeral Home, 33 South Street, Great Barrington, MA 01230 to help defray funeral expenses.   1. The Hollywood family sends its deepest sympathy to all of Emma’s
    S family. As everyone knows, Emma had a great gift for making those around her feel loved, springing from her own deep love of God. We are confident that she now sees the Almighty face to face and is entertaining all in heaven with her soulful voice and her black, 12 string Ovation guitar. Thank you for your faithful friendship Emma, and your unwavering witness to the Faith. Rest in peace, dear lady.
