Obituary of Derick Matthew Turner

With overwhelming sadness The Family of Derick Matthew Turner announce his death. Born, 02/24/2005. A graduate of Mt. Tom Academy, Class of 2023 MMRHS.

Derick loved hiking in the woods, climbing trees and making forts.  He was eloquent in his writings, fiercely competitive in basketball and loved football.  He was a steadfast fan of the NY Giants. Cooking was his passion that he hoped to pursue in the future.

Flying Deer and Greenagers taught him skills to become one with nature and experience the pride that comes with constructing your own space.

He was a natural at mentoring because he related to their struggles. Staying in one space was a challenge for him.

His brothers, Ethan and Alex summed him up in 9 words: 

A heart breaker, risk taker, back breaker, dream chaser, whom they will forever miss.

Derick was part of a very large family and community that loved him dearly.

You were here a very short time my man, your imprint will be everlasting.

On June 19th from 1:30-2:30 a remembrance of Derick’s life will be held at April Hill in South Egremont MA
