David Zanin (2)

David J. Zanin, 42, of Great Barrington, MA passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 at Fairview Hospital.  He was born in Fairfax, VA on February 21, 1975 to Nora Tuller Zanin and Thomas John Zanin.  David attended Berkshire Hills Public Schools, graduated from Monument Mountain High School in 1995 and obtained both, a Bachelor (2005) and Master’s (2010) degree from American International College in Springfield, MA.

Dave was an outstanding athlete, receiving athletic scholarships to Maine Central Institute and American International College for his devotion to the sport of football.  He began his career in Berkshire County playing for the Southern Berkshire Chargers and then for Monument Mountain High School where he won the respect of so many as a stand out on the football field.  He shared the love of his sport in most recent years coaching for Monument Mountain and Lee High School where he made an impact, both on and off the field, in the lives of our youth.

Dave was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was a member of the Stockbridge Sportsmen’s Club where he had many friends who shared in his passion for outdoor sports.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and watching his nephew, niece and cousins play sports.  Dave often shared stories about his athletic career and the memories made along the way, the years he spent in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, his experiences with wildlife as a hunter and  outdoorsman and the time he spent with his grandfather, John (Zip) Zanin.

Dave left a mark on all those he met with his realistic approach to life, always using his quick, sharp wit to put things in perspective.   He spoke his mind, was well respected for his views and had the ability to make everyone he came in contact with smile.

Dave is survived by his mother, Nora Zanin of Great Barrington, his brother, Brian Zanin and his wife, Monica of Stockbridge.  Besides his mother and brother, he leaves his nephew, Nick and niece, Julia, many cousins, aunts, uncles, neighbors and countless friends.   He is predeceased by his father, Thomas John Zanin, grandparents, John and Mary Tuller and John and Jackie Zanin.

There are no calling hours.  David’s family would like you to join them in a celebration of his life to be held at the Stockbridge Sportsmen’s Club, 24 West Stockbridge Road, Stockbridge, MA on Sunday, January 6, 2019 from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
